Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution in Midlands Owen Ncube was recently in the district to commission Mberengwa District Hospital Ambulance and toured the laundry, theatre, mortuary, and maternity wing.
“Quality and affordable health care services have been brought to communities as women no longer travel long distances to access maternity health services,” Minister Ncube said.
The district hospital serves as a referral hospital for 37 wards and through funding from Central Government and other development partners, several projects were implemented.
Minister Ncube said more clinics will be built and upgraded, while equipment and facilities will be provided to uplift marginalized areas and communities.
“This is another milestone achievement by the Second Republic as the country pursues a prosperous and empowered upper middle-income society by 2030.
“The pro-people approach by the Government is to bring services closer to the people and it has improved health and well-being in Mberengwa District in line with the National Development trajectory to provide health for all by 2030; the Second Republic is upgrading all clinics and hospitals to modern health care facilities,” said Minister Ncube.
Mberengwa District has 10 vehicles including six ambulances and four service vehicles including those from mission hospitals.
