GWERU – President Emmerson Mnangagwa yesterday capped 6 479 graduands, the First Lady included, at the Midlands State University’s 25th graduation ceremony.
The First Lady Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa also graduated with a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Tourism and Hospitality Management.
MSU Vice Chancellor Prof Ngoni Muzvidziwa said the First Lady had for the past five years been an exemplary DPhil student from proposal presentation to oral defence of her thesis.
“We recognise her exceptional work ethic, resilience and dedication to her studies. Above all, her humble deference to her supervisors and intellectual curiosity have been instructive to all of us,” Prof Muzvidziwa said.
The Vice Chancellor also said that of the 6 479 graduands, 53 percent were female, and 47 percent were male.
A total of 1 991 representing 30 percent of the graduands were postgraduate students while a total of 10 graduated with Doctorate degrees and five with Master of Philosophy degree.
Another 200 graduated with postgraduate diplomas and certificates.
The ceremony also saw 18 graduands consisting of the first cohort from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery.
