GWERU – The ZIFA First Instance Board this week gave the nod for Sheasham to use their refurbished home ground ahead of log leaders Highlanders’ fixture next Sunday.
Sheasham, which has had to travel to Zvishavane to fulfill their home matches at Mandava Stadium will be boosted by the new development as they will now play in front of their home fans.
Sheasham media liaison officer Elias Maginya said they were delighted with the approval and were looking forward to playing their first league match at the stadium.
“We urge all our fans to come in huge numbers and cheer the Construction Boys.
“It has not been easy for many as they had to endure the long travels to Zvishavane to watch the team in action,” Maginya wrote in a statement.
Maginya applauded stakeholders for the support rendered as the stadium was being renovated.
The homologation of Bata coincidentally comes after Sheasham finally recorded their first victory after seven matches in their debut season.
The Construction Boys beat fellow debutants Simba Bhora 2-1 at Baobab Stadium in Ngezi.
Sheasham owners had last week given the coaching department an ultimatum to collect at least six points out of a possible nine before the victory.
Fans in Gweru have welcomed the development with Themba Masara of Mkoba saying the development would give Sheasham a home advantage in future matches.
