GOKWE: A gang of three men ambushed a Gokwe man, Samuel Samu (41) in his home and robbed him of cash obtained from cattle sell the previous day.

The incident occurred at Ringo Village under Chief Njelele in Gokwe.

Midlands provincial police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the incident and said police are investigating the case.

“A gang of three unidentified men broke into the complainant home while he was asleep with logs demanding USD700 of cash which he had obtained from selling his cattle the previous day,” said Mahoko

It is alleged that robbers had full information about his cattle transaction and where he had kept the money.

“He was assaulted all over his body with logs and open hands into submission where he was forced to give them the money. The robbers immediately fled the scene,” Mahoko added.

Police say investigations are ongoing and have appealed to members of the public who might have information about the assailants to inform any nearest police station.

Mahoko also encouraged villagers to keep their cash transactions closely guarded and urged them to not keep large sums of money at home.
