Bikita Minerals launches safety month

BIKITA: Bikita Minerals, a subsidiary of the Sinomine Group has officially launched the 2025 Safety Campaign at its mine offices.

The initiative, led by Managing Director, Xuedong Gong underscores the company’s unwavering commitment to fostering a culture of safety and preparedness among its workforce and surrounding communities.

The Sinomine Group Safety Month is running under the theme “Safety Awareness for all, Emergency skills for everyone, identify risks around us.”

Throughout June, Bikita Minerals has scheduled a series of activities designed to reinforce safety protocols and hazard awareness and these include; departmental inspections to identify and rectify potential hazards, awareness campaigns focusing on departmental and job-specific risks and site visits encompassing mining pits, processing plants, warehouses, assay laboratories, office areas, and living quarters to ensure compliance with safety standards.

Bikita Minerals Safety Manager Ms Martha Simango said in 2024 the company recorded zero fatalities and added that, ‘this was achieved through trainings of employees, visitors and interns.

The department also undertook safety campaigns to educate and raise awareness among its employees.

Furthermore, Bikita Minerals received no citations for environmental regulation breaches from the Environmental Management Agency in 2024, underscoring its commitment to environmental stewardship

“Safety is key for Bikita Minerals and the company is committed to provide a safe environment for its employees and the surrounding communities. The company adheres to the stipulated regulations on mining and the environment,” further said company spokesperson Collen Nikisi.

Meanwhile, Bikita Minerals received no citations for environmental regulation breaches from the Environmental Management Agency in 2024, underscoring its commitment to environmental stewardship.
