SHURUGWI: More than 10 000 families in Tongogara communal area will soon benefit from the construction of the state-of-the-art polyclinic by the Tongogara Rural District Council from funds it received from treasury under the devolution programme.
Tongogara RDC acting CEO Piniel Chiguvari, said that the construction of new health facilities in there is set to improve health access and improve livelihoods.
“When we finish this project, people will manage accessing health services closer to their homesteads as distance had remained a challenge to many seeking healthcare.
“What is also pleasing is cooperation from the community through assisting in the development taking place. We have many volunteers something we are proud of as a local authority,” Chiguvari said.
Shurugwi North legislator Ronald Nyathi weighed in saying that the funds from the devolution programme will help engender development in rural areas.
“The devolution funds are playing a big role in developing our area. We wish government would keep disbursing these for the upliftment especially of the rural communities,” said Nyathi.
Four rural health services centres in Shurugwi district are at various construction stages following the release of nearly $1 million from government under the devolution programme.
