GWERU – Although age seems not be on his side and some might think he is about to call it a day, Talbert Shumba still dreams of playing across the Limpopo before retirement.
The warrior’s senior team fourth choice who is now plying his trade for Triangle United football club (FC) popularly known as the Sugar Sugar Boys would love to taste the more competitive ABSA premiership in South Africa if a chance comes his way.
Speaking to CommuTalk, 30 year old Shumba said he feels he is on peak and othing will stop him.
“I am just getting started, I feel like a 23 year old. The energy is just unbelievable and I am still looking forward to play in ABSA. Amazulu will be my preffered home if I am to cross the border. I really enjoyed the atmosphere there when we played COSAFA,” ‘Gono’ said as Shumba is affectionately known
The goalie also took a chance to heap praises on Triangle FC coach Taurai Mangwiro for assembling an ambitious side which has become a household name in the sugar manufacturing town.
“My current team coach has done a lot to lighten up not only passion in the sport but ambition as well. Currently, I can say because of his contributions, the sky is the limit for everyone,” he said.
Shumba who has played for Highlanders, FC Platinum and Chapungu to mention but a few has been in top form in recent seasons where he has earned himself a spot in the Cosafa final squad and Afcon 2019 provisional national team squad.
