ZHOMBE – Police recently arrested four men who had allegedly gone on a robbing spree since December last year.
The four, Tatenda Bhebhe (23), Tafadzwa Moyo (21), Mollen Banda (27), and Learnmore Masaga have been linked to four cases of robbery, malicious injury to property, and break-in.
Luck run out for the four when they tried to break in into Brighton Dhlodhlo’s house at Ndabenkulu Village under Chief Gwesela.
Police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said Dhlodhlo was asleep in his house when the four started breaking the door so that they could enter at around 3 am.
He added that before they could gain entry into the house, Dhlodhlo took a bottle containing sulphuric acid and sprinkled it on the suspects’ faces through a hole they had created in the door.
“The four fled after their faces became itchy and the matter was reported at ZRP Zhombe. On 25 February 2023, information was received that one of the suspects was admitted to Kadoma General Hospital due to acid burns.
“Police reacted swiftly and arrested the suspect, Bhebhe of KMP Mbizo Kwekwe who then implicated the other suspects namely Banda of 4331 Ascot Gweru, Moyo of Village Kesani under Chief Gwesela in Zhombe and Masaga 22 of Village Ndabenkulu.
“Banda was arrested while admitted at Gweru Provincial Hospital, while Masaga and Moyo were arrested at their homesteads.”
Mahoko said investigations are still in progress
