HARARE: The Harare High Court has denied bail to two Norton residents, Mike Dick (30) and Shingi William (36), who are facing murder charges under Section 47 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act (Chapter 9:23).

The charges stem from an incident on November 1, 2024, when the pair allegedly assaulted Robson Kifimesi, mistaking him for a thief.

According to court records, Kifimesi was wandering near Darwendale fisheries around 10 PM when the two reportedly attacked him with logs.

They later handed him over to the security guard at Aberdeen Farm in Norton.

Kifimesi succumbed to his injuries at Sally Mugabe Hospital.

In a statement, the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) condemned the use of violence in resolving disputes.

“We urge members of the public to desist from violence and resolve their disputes amicably or seek third-party mediation,” the NPAZ stated.

Meanwhile, in Rusape, Ngoni Chisiiwe has been sentenced to four years in prison for attempted robbery, with an additional year suspended for five years.

The court heard that Chisiiwe conspired with a gang to rob a local man, who had recently made over USD12,000 from tobacco sales and intended to buy a car in Harare.

Acting on information provided by Chisiiwe, the gang ambushed the complainant, but he and his son overpowered them.
