Mvuma businessman loses cash and a car

MVUMA: In a rather disturbing incident, a 32-year-old Mvuma businessman, Mavhuto Mhunga was recently robbed of US$ 2000 cash and a Honda Fit valued at US$5000.

This incident occurred around 00:30 hours when Mhunga was sleeping in his bedroom whereas his mother-in-law was sleeping in the sitting room.

It is alleged that the three unknown men armed with metal rods and axes broke into the house and severely assaulted Mavhuto and his mother-in-law, threatening to kill them.

Fearing for their lives, Mavhuto surrendered US$2000 cash, 2 smartphones and car keys.

The suspects drove away and abandoned the vehicle which was later found along Harare Mvuma road.

In a separate incident, Mavis Mapiravana(60) from Mvuma was also robbed of a motor vehicle at her plot in Central Estates.

Three unknown men forced entry into Mapiravana ‘s house whilst she was asleep around 3 AM.

After gaining access the intruders preceded to the bedroom where they badly assaulted Mapiravana.

She surrendered US$12-00, a techno cellphone and Toyota Hilux twin cab keys.

As if this was not enough, the robbers tied Mapiravana with electric cables before driving away.

Meanwhile Provincial Community Relations Liason Officer Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko is appealing to members of the public to assist with information that can lead to the arrest of the culprits.

“Anyone with information that can lead to the arrest of these culprits should visit the police station,” said Mahoko.
