MBERENGWA: A Mberengwa man Ndavadzawo Msipa (42) is currently in custody for axing his brother Taruwinga Gumbo (60) over witchcraft allegations.

Both are from Mavavi Village under Chief Chingoma in Mberengwa.

Midlands police spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko has confirmed the incidence.

“It is alleged that the suspect visited his now late brother’s complex accusing his wife of bewitching him. In protest, Msipa cut some fruit trees in the yard and damaged some of Gumbo’s property. Gumbo who was away returned home to witness the fracas before arming himself with an axe and stick headed for Msipa’s home.

“A misunderstanding arose resulting in gumbo axing Msipa on the forehead. Msipa managed to disarm Gumbo and struck him on the head while further assaulting him several times using the stick. Gumbo died on the spot,” Mahoko confirmed.

Mahoko also urged members of the public to solve their differences ‘amicably either by engaging a third party than the use of violence.’
