KWEKWE  – Two individuals have been arrested and charged with public nuisance following a staged witchcraft incident in Mbizo 3, Kwekwe.

Brighton Muroyi (alias Madzibaba Heavynisher), a 19-year-old self-proclaimed prophet, and his 45-year-old accomplice, Revai Kweza of Mkoba 18, Gweru, were apprehended after a carefully orchestrated hoax was exposed.

The incident unfolded around 8:00 AM when Kweza was discovered inside a locked house near a Johane Masowe eChishanu Apostolic faith shrine. She was clad in provocative attire – a black skin-tight outfit, black bra, and black doek – leading to a large crowd gathering.

Police from ZRP Mbizo were called to the scene.

During questioning, Kweza revealed that the entire incident was a fabrication designed to boost Madzibaba Heavynisher’s reputation.

WhatsApp messages recovered from their phones confirmed their collaboration and detailed the payment Kweza received for her participation.

Police investigations revealed that Muroyi hired Kweza to pose as a trapped witch at his shrine. The pair hoped to generate publicity and attract more followers to his religious sect.

In a statement released to the press, law enforcement officials urged the public to refrain from engaging in activities that disrupt public order and to exercise caution when seeking religious guidance.

Citizens were advised to conduct thorough background checks before engaging the services of prophets and to focus on honest labor for their livelihoods.

The suspects are currently in police custody awaiting their court appearance.
