SHURUGWI: Over one thousand families in Shurugwi North are set to benefit from the construction of Chironde bridge which connects the area to Shurugwi town, Zvishavane and Masvingo.
The construction of the bridge has brought relief to the local community after an unbearable rainy season where crossing Mutevekwi river was a daily nightmare.
The bridge, which is expected to be complete within the next month, will also reduce transport costs and the number of children who had to miss school due to flooded rivers.
Handing over equipment for the bridge construction recently, Shurugwi North legislator, Ronald Nyathi said he was confident that the conduit will foster economic development in the area.
“I hope with the required equipment now in lace the bridge will be completed on set targets. The bridge will be helpful specially to farming communities who have been finding it hard to reach the market thereby in another way fostering economic growth,” said Nyathi.
Beneficiaries say project completion will make their lives easy in many ways ranging from economic activities to facilitation of smooth travel for learners and the ill in the community.
