GWERU – Chapungu FC prolific striker Edward Watson leads the Ruvimbo Funeral Central Region Soccer League top goal scorer chart with seven goals.
The diminutive striker scored a hat-trick against Black Eagles early in the season and has been on the scoreboard for Waru Waru on several occasions.
CSRL 2023 soccer star of the year runner-up Simon Shangwa of Tongogara is second on six goals.
The lanky midfielder has continued from where he left from last season and is part of the reason why the Calvin Maposa coached side currently leads the league with 28 points from 12 matches.
Shangwa is followed by three players on five goals who include Beitbridge FC’s Blessed Tembo, Kwekwe United’s Shelton Marabanyika and Shabanie Mine’s Menford Mudzimu.
Former Premier Soccer League side Sheasham FC has Luck Vundla, Ayanda Ncube and skipper William Stima on four goals, while ZRP Gwanda has veteran striker Newman Sianchali and Peter Gore also on four goals.
Others on four goals include Chapungu’s Divine Sibanda, Dunga Tirivangani Machapuya of Dinson Mvuma, Dulibadzimu FC’s Bennedict Sithole, and FC Platinum U19’s Corneck Tadiwanashe Murasiranwa.
Wilfred Munorwei of FC Wangu Mazodze City, Ashley Muneripi of Gokwe North, Munyaradzi Chipo of Kwekwe and Clavelo Nyoni of West Nicholson have also scored four.
Meanwhile, Tongogara last week beat Bishopstone 2-0 to dislodge Dulibadzimu United at the top of the log.
Fellow Army side Chapungu beat Kwekwe United 1-0, with the solitary goal coming from a Leeroy Bernard free kick.
Sheasham returned to winning ways with a 3-1 victory over Midlands State University after a 1-0 setback to FC Platinum the previous week.
Dulibadzimu United which was held 1-1 by Dinson Mvuma is in second place with 26 points.
Kwekwe United remained in third position with 23 points after the defeat to Chapungu.
Sheasham FC is fourth with 21 points, while Chapungu moved to fifth with 21 points.
Shabanie Mine beat Black Eagles 1-0 at their favourite hunting ground Maglas Stadium, while West Nicholson and Blanket Mine drew 0-0.
Beitbridge FC beat FC Platinum 2-0, while FC Wangu Mazodze City failed to use home advantage against ZRP Gwanda drawing 0-0.
Action enters week 14 this coming weekend with FC Wangu Mazodze City playing Shabanie Mine at Bagdad Stadium in Kwekwe, while Sheasham face Bishopstone at Bata Stadium in Gweru.
MSU will be at MSU, where they welcome Blanket Mine, while ZRP Gwanda play Tongogara in a battle of the uniformed forces at Phelandaba Stadium in Gwanda.
Beitbridge FC and West Nicholson at Dulibadzimu Stadium, while FC Platinum U19 host seemingly rejuvenated Chapungu at Mandava Stadium in Zvishavane.
