GWERU: A 71-year-old man, Moffat Sibanda and one other, Mcedisi Moyo (46) appeared in the Gweru Magistrate’s court facing stock theft charges.
It is the state’s case that on 8 November 2020, Moyo hatched a plan to steel one steer belonging to his employer, Vuma Xolisani Muthkozisi with the assistance of Sibanda.
Moyo then drove the steer to Sibanda’s homestead where they met a buyer whom Sibanda had found. Moyo then claimed that the steer was his.
The two shared proceeds after the sale.
A tip off led to the arrest of accused persons.
The steer which was not recovered is being valued at ZW$40 500.
Both accused persons did not give any plea stating that they wish to get representation from their lawyers and were remanded in custody to 10 November 2020.
Magistrate Beaulity Dube presided over the issue while Magret Mukucha stood in for the state.
