In a rather disturbing incident, a 71-year-old Mambo woman, Juliet Maroka was knocked down and died on the spot at Mambo Bustop, along Hamutyinei road.
Midlands Police Spokesperson Emmanuel Inspector Mahoko confirmed the incident that occurred on the 2nd of November.
“An unknown vehicle hit and run over Juliet around 1930 hrs and she died on the spot. As ZRP we are appealing to the members of the public for information that can help with the investigations. The deceased sustained some head injuries and broken legs,” said Mahoko.
Kudzi Dambaza, son of the deceased blamed the driver and said he/she shouldn’t have fled the scene.
“We only want closure, the person who killed my mother should come and confess. How can one flee the scene just like that?” said Dambaza.
Just within 24 hrs after the horrific incident, a male pedestrian was spotted groaning in the middle of the road, opposite Mtapa cemetery.
The unknown male adult was also hit by a car when he was trying to cross the road.
Meanwhile, the police are also investigating a suspected murder case where an unknown female body was found in a decomposing state at Wilse farm in Gweru.
The body has been taken to Gweru Provincial Hospital(GPH) for post-mortem.
