SHURUGWI: A 44-year-old Shurugwi man has appeared in court facing charges of aggravated indecent assault after he allegedly abused his 14-year-old nephew.
The accused was denied bail and was remanded in custody to the 14th of this month for continuation of trial.
Allegations are that on the 30th of last month at around 8 pm, the complainant and the accused were sleeping on the same bed when the uncle allegedly started fondling his nephew.
Further allegations are that the accused held the complainant by the neck and put some pieces of cloth in his nephew’s mouth before he sexually assaulted him four times.
It is also alleged that the accused threatened the complainant with unspecified action if he reported the matter.
The matter, however, came to light when the complainant told his parents about the incident, leading to the arrest of the accused.
