BULAWAYO: Local sports associations who were heavily affected by Covid-19 have been challenged to utilise the ongoing Zimbabwe International Trade fair (ZITF) and unlock new opportunities.

Riding on the comprehensive economic policy reforms being implemented by the Second Republic led by President Emmerson Mnangagwa, the sports industry is increasing its output in the economic sector.

Sport exhibitors at the ongoing Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) say the trade showcase has offered them an opportunity to interact and pursue new opportunities.

“This is a very good opportunity for us to engage with potential investors

“I’m glad we have made some contacts from these exhibitions and I’m hopeful by the end of the show we would have made more connections,” present Sports Associations highlighted.

Minister of Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation Honorable Kirsty Coventry implored sports associations to be innovative and unlock new opportunities.

“I’m glad to say that we had good conversations and solutions to the growth of minor sports. Sporting associations should thereby use this to take Zimbabwean sports to greater heights,” said Coventry.

This year’s edition of the trade fair has proven to be a stepping-stone for minor sport codes who are working hard to create fan bases and unlock new opportunities.
