GWERU: The Gweru magistrates’ court recently further remanded Chinese national Liu Haifeing (51) in custody for brandishing a pistol towards his employee, Kholwani Dube with ‘intention to kill’ over a salary dispute.

He is set to re-appear in court on 12 March 2025.

The case had also taken long to resume as the state requested and awaited a Chinese translator.

Haifeing is being charged for attempted murder, violating the explosives act and also contravening the mines and minerals act.

It is the State’s case that Haifeng attempted to cause death as he fired three live rounds towards Dube with a Canik 9mm Pistol.

The state also submitted that in contravention with the Explosives Act, the accused made the unlawful use of explosives at his quarry mine without a license or permit.

More so, the state also established that the Chinese national was prospecting for gold without a license as required by the Mines and Minerals Act.

Gweru magistrate P.C Maturure presided over the case.
