GWERU – All roads lead to Ascot Stadium today for the Ruvimbo Funeral Central Region Soccer League week seven fixture between bitter rivals Sheasham FC and Chapungu United.
Touted as favorites at the beginning of the season, the two have not had a perfect start to the season.
Sheasham find themselves in shouting distance of the leading pack in fifth position with 10 points, six less than log leaders Dulibadzimu FC.
Chapungu is in eighth position with seven points and go into the derby after back to back defeats at the hands of new boys Dinson Mvuma and Dulibadzimu.
Both teams fancy their chances of winning the grudge match which come with the Gweru bragging rights.
Sheasham coach Lizwe Sweswe said he would not look much into the derby tag and treat the match as any other encounter.
“l don’t think the derby should be a fight, but it should just be about displaying quality football.
“l don’t usually count on derbies, I concentrate on my team, what l want them to do is what is important,” said Sweswe.
Chapungu assistant coach Tafadzwa Mombeshora said they expect to use home advantage and bounce back to winning ways.
“We are at home and expect to collect all three points. We will concentrate on our game not look into the fact that it is a derby,” Mombeshora said.
