Gweru – The multi sports facility, Gweru Sports club is set to host Division One football for the first time in history.
Previously, the sports club was used for minority sports, rugby, cricket among others.
But following the change in leadership, the facility will now house football which is arguably the most sort after sporting code in the country.
The Central Region side Sheasham FC will use the facility as their home ground.
Last season they had turned Mkoba Stadium into a fortress and this year they will restart their formula at the new found home, with high hopes that they will gain promotion into the topflight, after a near miss last season.
John Makhuwalo of Gweru Sports Club confirmed the development.
“The facility will be back in use full swing once touch ups are complete. Two Keys Zimbabwe and Sheasham FC have made work easier at the sports facility with their contributions,” he said.
“Sheasham FC worked hard to get the football pitch improved because they will host Division One games while Two Keys have been working on the squash courts in hope to host the 2020 Squash Open,” he added.
