GWERU: Prominent Gweru lawyer and former Gweru legislator Brian Dube was recently appointed into the ZIFA electoral committee, a move locals hope would continue bringing credibility to the Magwizi led football board.
Acknowledging Dube’s expertise, dedication and contributions to the development of football in Zimbabwe, ZIFA assigned him (but not limited) to, “…ensuring adherence to ZIFA’s statutes, regulations and electoral code of ZIFA regarding the election process strategic objectives within the scope of the committee’s mandate”.
In an interview, Dube said he does not take the appointment lightly and hopes to use his expertise to improving ZIFA efficiency in line with his new appointment.
“I do not take this appointment lightly and I am going to give my all in making sure that I assume the given task with efficiency and respect. As a person who loves his home country, I re-confirm that I am ready to do my duties wholeheartedly not only as a benefit to my hometown but Zimbabwe at large which is a football loving nation.
“The appointment has also shown me that ZIFA is purely rebranded towards credibility as in this case they have not appointed just people but experts and moreso in a decentralised way. It shows their serious intention to do things right,” Dube said.
Meanwhile, Shesham Football Club appointed Brightwell Kadenge as the club’s Chief Executive officer.
“With extensive experience and expertise in football management, leadership and strategy, Mr. Kadenge is poised to drive the club’s growth,” Shesham, wrote in their announcement.
Kadenge also said he hopes to bring financial stability and trophies to the club.
“My main goal is to bring financial stability to the club and going forward, improve field performance. This will see us winning trophies and bringing football glory back to the City of progress,” said Kadenge.
Kadenge is not a new name in football administration having served in the marketing and public relations committee of the soccer governing board, ZIFA in 2016.
