Silobela woman sentenced for murder, attacked hubby using kitchen utensils

GWERU: The Midlands High Court circuit recently sentenced a Silobela women to 17 years in prison for killing her husband while attacking him with a cooking pot and stick.

The court heard that Liona Mbulawa (24) attacked her husband Brighton Dube (29) in November last year at their home in Makende Village following a domestic dispute.

“A domestic dispute arose after Dube returned home from drinking. An argument ensued, escalating into a physical altercation where Mbulawa struck her husband repeatedly with a cooking pot and a stick,” the court heard.

“After the attack, Mbulawa reported the incident to the village head who subsequently visited the scene.

“Dube was found injured but reportedly insisted that he be taken to his rural home,” the court further heard.

Dube was unfortunately found dead the following morning.

A postmortem examination however attributed the cause of death to severe brain injury, skull fracture, subarachnoid hemorrhage and severe head trauma.

Mbulawa was charged for murder.
