Zhombe trio kills father, son over donkey theft suspicion

KWEKWE: Three Zhombe family members, Lee Moyo, Mpilo Moyo and Moffat Moyo are on the run after allegedly assaulting and killing Helkan Ncube (54) along with his son Khulekani Ncube (27) over suspicion that the duo had stolen their three donkeys sometime in December 2000.

The incident occurred at Bhaparara Business Center, Chief Malisa area in Zhombe.

Police has confirmed the incidence and says investigations are ongoing.

“A misunderstanding arose them resulting in the accused persons assaulting the now deceased with knobkerries all over their bodies. The three accused persons went away leaving the now deceased father and son lying on the ground.

“Matter was reported to the police who attended to the scene and no arrest was made. Helkan and Khulekani were referred to Kwekwe general hospital where they both died upon admission,” a police communique reads.

“Police are appealing to members of the public who might have information about the assailants to inform any nearest police station, use our police hotlines and suggestion boxes dotted across the nation,” further reads the communique.
