BIKITA: A Zanu PF official in Masvingo Province is in trouble after supposedly seeking sexual favors from a war veterans’ wife in exchange for assistance to ferry her husband to the hospital.
In a letter written by the supposed victim, Ancilar Chiraira to the Zanu PF Provincial Chairperson Ezra Chadzamira, she alleges that after visiting the party’s district office seeking assistance to have her husband ferried to the hospital, the local MP donated 20 liters diesel but to her surprise, the accused Simon Masosonere claimed sexual favors for facilitating the engagements before handing over the donation.
Masosonere is the Zanu PF Bikita District War Veteran’s Association chairperson.
“I was seeking help to have my husband, a war veteran, treated and I consulted Comrade Mashanda (Bikita Zanu PF Staff) and Comrade Masosonera (War Veteran) and they said transport was available but there was no fuel.
“Comrade Masosonere then approached MP Elias Musakwa who provided 20 liters diesel to transport my husband to Masvingo general hospital and now he is asking for a favor…he wants to have sex with me or else he wanted 60 liters of diesel so that my husband is transported to the hospital,” reads part of the letter.
“My husband is now on a critical point that needs attention. He is still at home because we the donated fuel has not yet been given to us. Coming back to your office means that Zanu PF is the only hope…I am now asking for your assistance because I am stranded,” the letter further reads.
Isaac Mashanda who is Zanu PF district administrator confirmed receiving the complaint and said they have already forwarded the letter in question to the Provincial Chairperson. He also said contingent plans have also been put in place so that the Chiraira’s husband gets treatment.
“We have received the complaint and the issue has since been forwarded to the Provincial Chairperson’s office. Meanwhile, we have secured fuel so that Chiraira’s husband is ferried to Masvingo for treatment next week and efforts have also been made that her husband gets initial medical attention from here (Bikita),” Mashanda said.
Masosonere however denies the allegations and says there are people aiming to de-campaign him in the much anticipated DCC elections where he is vying the Secretary for Security post.
“I am being framed because I had tried to block those that had rejoined the party from being awarded posts in the oncoming District Coordinating Committee (DCC) elections. Tarnishing me is their best sought strategy knowing that as a senior war veteran I have direct influence to the President and that influence can have them brought down to the cell before seeking bigger posts after re-admission into the party,” said Masosonere.
Zanu PF is due to hold DCC elections on dates yet to be announced as the party has already opened campaign period for approved aspiring candidates.
