Gweru – A crack down by Gweru police has led to the arrest of Darlington Chigagure (26) in connection with the murder of Walter Mutombwera (36) in March this year.

The other accused persons, Sifenjani Brandy (43) managed to flee while Precious Moyo remains at large.

A police memo in possession of CommuTalk show that there was a love triangle between the deceased and Brandy’s wife Nyaradzo Chigarure.

The relationship did not go down well with Brandy who with the assistance of the accused, used his former maid Moyo to lure the deceased to his house through texting and pretending to be Chigarure.

“The duo supposedly assaulted the deceased using hoe handle whilst tying his hands and legs at around mid-night. They then placed Mutombwera in a vehicle boot and dumped him in the streets, where he was later found and died on his way to the hospital,” read the police memo.

All this however happened while Chigarure was in South Africa for some work.

“Postmortem showed that Mutombwera suffered from stab wounds, laceration of humeral artery and wounds on both legs and hypovolemic shock,” the memo further reads.

Locals however believe that Brandy was after getting rid of men who dated Chigarure during the time they were separated.

The issue is being investigated by the Nehanda police under CR47/3/20.
