Kwekwe teams take control of CRSL

KWEKWE United and Tongogara FC have taken control of the Ruvimbo Funeral Central Region Soccer League.

The two Kwekwe rivals lead the log standings with Kwekwe on 23 points, while Tongo have 22 points after week 11 of matches.

Kwekwe beat Dinson Mvuma 1-0 last weekend, with the solitary goal coming from the boot of David Munyaradzi Chipo, who now has three goals to his name this season.

Coach Prince Matore said his side would continue working hard until they achieve their goal of gaining promotion in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.

Army side Tongogara beat third from bottom Gokwe North 2-0 at Tongogara.

Dulibadzimu United which had been leading standings dropped to third position after they were held by fifth placed West Nicholson.

The Beitbridge based outfit has the same number of points with second placed Tongogara on 22.

Sheasham which was on a bye last weekend are fourth, five points behind pacesetters Kwekwe United.

In other results, Chapungu beat Bishopstone 3-1 with goals from Cuthbert Gwaze and a brace from Leroy Bernard.

Former Premier Soccer League side Shabane Mine bounced back to winning ways with a 1-0 win over Blanket Mine at Maglas Stadium, while Beitbridge FC beat Black Eagles 3-0.

The match between ZRP Gwanda and MSU ended in a goalless draw.

In week 12, Kwekwe United play Dulibadzimu United at Dulibadzimu Stadium in Beitbridge, while Tongogara host Shabane Mine at Tongogara.

Sheasham are on the road to face FC Platinum U19 at Mandava Stadium, while Blanket Mine host Bishopstone at Long John Stadium.

Bottom of the table Black Eagles will try to fly past Gokwe North at Simbi Stadium in Buchwa, while MSU will be home against FC Wangu Mazodze City.

Dinson Mvuma host ZRP Gwanda at Mvuma Primary School, while Chapungu FC play West Nicholson at their beloved Ascot Stadium in Gweru on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the league has released the top goal scorer chart with Chapungu’s Edward Watson ruling the roost with six goals.

On second place is Shelton Marambanyika of Kwekwe with five goals, while Tadiwanashe Murasiranwa of FC Platinum U19, Benedict Sithole of Dulibadzimu, Peter Gore of ZRP Gwanda, Clavelo Nyoni of West Nicholson and Tirivangani Machapuya of Dinson Mvuma have all scored four goals each.

The Sheasham pair of Lucky Vundla and Ayanda Ncube have also scored four goals each.
