GWERU: Midlands based football administrator Violet Jubane is set to raise the national flag high after being nominated for the 2021 GSport Awards in the category of Imperial African Women of the year.
Jubane, as finalist however faces stiff competition as her stakes should be higher than that of Ghananian award winning sports journalist, Juliet Bawuah and South African footballer, Ode Fulutudilu who plays for Scottish side, Glassgow City.
Jubane told CommuTalk that being nominated was a good opportunity she will always treasure in her life.
“I have done a lot of things in sport and I am very happy that I am going to motivate my fellow women to take leadership roles in sports. Being nominated alone has given me more energy as well,” said Jubane.
She also urged fellow women to remain positive and willing to learn especially if they decide to be part of sports.
“Women should not be intimidated when it comes to sport. They should stay strong as there are many stereotypes about women not fit to be in sports. This industry is no longer for males only as women we can prosper in sports as well as bringing a lot of positives,” she added.
Jubane who holds a flowery sporting portfolio is a holder of a high-level FIFA Master badge and also the current ZIFA Central Region marketing, development and communications officer.
GSport is a South African organization which was founded by Kasi Naidu a cricket presenter in 2006 and honors outstanding women in sport annually. This year’s event marks the organisation’s 16th edition with Momentum as their main sponsor among other sponsors that include SuperSport and Telcom.
