Dulibadzimu maintains lead, despite draw

GWERU – Dulibadzimu United maintained its lead at the top of the Ruvimbo Funeral Central Region Soccer League despite dropping points at home against Army side Tongogara.

The Beitbridge-based outfit drew 1-1 with Tongogara at Dulibadzimu Stadium in the Southern border town.

The league’s early pacesetters now has 18 points from eight matches, two more than second-placed Kwekwe United, which beat Bishopstone 1-0 last weekend.

Tongogara occupies third place with 15 points after the draw with the log leaders.

Dulibadzimu this weekend travel to Zvishavane for a date with Shabanie Mine at Maglass Stadium.

Shabanie last week humbled this season’s surprise packages Dinson Mvuma 1-0.

Kwekwe United travel to Gwanda where they play West Nicholson at Phelandaba Stadium, while Tongogara host Chapungu in a battle of the soldiers at Battlefields.

Inconsistent Sheasham, which is coming from a 0-0 draw against Beitbridge FC host Gokwe North at Bata Stadium. The former Castle Lager Premier Soccer League outfit is in fourth position with 14 points, the same number of points with fifth placed West Nicholson.

Blanket Mine, which beat Chapungu 1-0 last weekend host Beitbridge FC at Long John Stadium in Gwanda.

Blanket coach Max Ruza was glad with the victory which came courtesy of a goal from midfielder Corey Black’s boot.

“This is an impressive victory, especially against Chapungu which has several good players.

“This victory will certainly give us confidence,” said Ruza.

FC Wangu Mazodze City will have to shoot down Black Eagles at Bagdad Stadium, while Midlands State University host FC Platinum U19.

Dinson Mvuma visit Bishopstone at Muchato Stadium.
