GWERU – Prominent lawyer Reginald Chidawanyika has bounced back as Sheasham FC chairperson after a year on the sidelines.

Chidawanyika was at the helm of the ambitious Gweru outfit during the 2022 Premier Soccer League demotion season.

Chidawanyika and his executive at the time was blamed for the team’s demise, which also claimed the scalp of coach John Nyikadzino.

Sheasham President Clever Mandaza last week appointed Chidawanyika together with Johannes Mukwembi as vice chairperson, secretary Happiness Dziva and Gladmore Gara.

Norman Mpofu is the new board member finance, while Simbarashe Sibanda returns his position as board member security.

Munyaradzi Mafaza is the board member marketing while James Nesvinga comes in as the board member development and technical.

The new executive takes over from the Chris Ngwenya led executive, which had Tawedzera Mudzvoka as vice chairperson and Pithias Shoko as secretary.

Chidawanyika said he would only comment once they complete the handover process.

The sacking of the Ngwenya led board was expected to be followed by a restructuring of the technical department led by Lizwe Sweswe.

Sweswe is however still at the helm of the technical department and appears to have survived the storm.

Fans were this season disappointed by the failure of the expensively assembled side to gain promotion into the Premier Soccer League.

Sweswe said the team was building its foundation and culture, which will be a springboard for promotion.
