GWERU – ZANU PF, which dominated the Midlands Province Member of Parliament elections in the just-held elections got more people in the senate, women quota, and youth quota seats.
The revolutionary party also got more seats in the provincial council.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Fredrick Shava is among the four senators from Zanu PF that will represent Midlands, while former deputy minister Sesil Zvidzai is among the two that will represent the Citizens Coalition for Change.
There is also place for President Mnangagwa’s son Kudakwashe in the Youth Quota, the sole youth quota representative from the province.
Zanu PF will have six representatives in the provincial council, while the CCC will have four.
It will also contribute four people for the women quota, while the CCC will have two.
Apart from Shava, Zanu PF has Tsitsi Muzenda, Maybe Mbohwa and Daniel Mackenzie Ncube, while the CCC has Sisasenkosi Ndebele.
In the women quota Zanu PF has Vairet Nhari, Perseverance Zhou, Rutendo Mpofu and Tsitsi Zhou, while the CCC has Emma Muzondiwa and Sekai Marashe.
The provincial council has Kwekwe businessman Kandros Mugabe, Colleta Mutambisi, Ernest Samson, Melania Mahiya, Maud Ngwenya and Phinias Makombe for Zanu PF, while the CCC has Angeline Muzhinyi, Senima Msindo, Jubilee Mutyanda and Denias Mudzingwa.
Zanu PF provincial chairperson Larry Mavima, who is also Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution who signed for the results on behalf of his party said the calculation and verification process was fair and transparent.
He said the figures they had tallied with what the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission had meaning they had done a good job.
“Overally it was a very diligent job which took a long time for them to get their figures straight…we getting a bit anxious but sometimes it is good to wait so as to get the good results,” he said.
He also alluded their victory to hard workk.
“We had to prove to the nation that we are a massive people’s party that is delivering to the people and had to get to them and tell them what their new dispensation had done,” he added.
The Minister said the revolutionary would not relax as the CCC had pulled numbers.
“This is the time to go back to the drawing table and to see how we can improve our numbers in 2028 so that we remain in power for as long as it takes.
“This is not the time to relax…we will celebrate and congratulate the President Emmerson Mnangagwa for giving us the chance to prove that we are indeed the revolutionary party which people should align themselves with. It is the party for everyone and not just Zanu PF members but for all Zimbabweans,” he said.
