SHURUGWI – Tongogara Rural District Council yesterday suspended the CEO Brian Rufasha over corruption allegations.
A suspension letter in possession of CommuTalk shows that Rufasha who is facing four charges that include misconduct and incompetence will still receive his benefits excluding operational benefits during his suspension.
The charges were derived from failure to discipline his immediate subordinate and failure to implement council resolutions following involvement in three accidents that included him and two others.
The council chef is also accused of failure to take legal action on the matter of a backhoe loader whose purchase he authorized but ultimately failed to secure the investment neither did he facilitate to bringing the supplier to book ‘…therefore exposing council to financial prejudice.’
The letter further states that he has been slapped with a 90 day suspension ‘…pending investigations and determination whichever comes first,’ while he will be accorded a hearing within the next 14 days.
His suspension reportedly follows a chase by the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZAAC) which demanded answers over alleged acts of corruption, fraud and gross abuse of office.
