GWERU: Three armed robbers recently broke into a local businessman’s Ascot house where they then tied the businessman and his wife together using some ropes before they took turns to rape the couple’s two daughters.
The three later ransacked the house, searching and demanding cash before they got away with $900 cash and the family’s recently imported Nissan Caravan.
“Midlands provincial police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the incident.
“On the fateful night, the three unknown accused persons forcibly opened the family’s entrance door using iron bars and suddenly demanded cash from the occupants while threatening them with death. They were armed with an axe and a hoe,” said Insp Mahoko.
He added, “…they further took the Nissan caravan keys and also raped the family’s two children who were sleeping in another bedroom. All the property lost is valued at about US$15 000.”
Insp Mahoko appealed to anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects to contact the nearest police station. He also encouraged the public to enhance their security mechanisms and avoid keeping large sums of money at home.
“We as the police are appealing to members of the public for any information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects to approach any nearest police station. We urge members of the public to enhance their security measures especially when they keep high-value property. We further remind the public not to keep large sums of money in their houses,” he said.
