GWERU: The Midlands Province Minister of State, Owen Ncube, recently launched a food relief program aimed at supporting vulnerable senior citizens in Gweru.

The initiative has brought hope to over 100 elderly individuals who struggle to access basic necessities due to their age.

Beneficiaries received bags of mealie-meal, targeted to help them to sustain them and their families.

Minister Ncube emphasized the importance of supporting the elderly, highlighting their contributions to the country’s development.

He pledged to introduce additional projects to ensure seniors lack nothing.

“Our senior citizens have contributed to the development of our country. It is our duty that they live their old days with dignity and respect. We are going to introduce other projects to ensure that they won’t lack anything,” Minister Ncube said.

Beneficiaries expressed gratitude, with one noting the program’s timing couldn’t be better, arriving when they had nothing to eat at home.

Such programs serve as beacons of hope, promoting dignity and respect for elderly individuals in need.
