Magaya embarks on 10 000-seater stadium

KWEKWE – Walter Magaya, the Yadah FC founder has embarked on construction of a 10 000-seater stadium in Kwekwe.

Magaya said the stadium, named after his business associate Shepherd Chawanda, the Chawanda Stadium also known as ‘The Heart Main Arena’ is an improved version of The Heart Stadium in Harare and is expected to be complete next year.

He also says the stadium will host international matches.

“This is the magnified and transformed version of the Heart Arena coming out bigger and better and a correction  of all the flaws  in the first structure,” he said.

“This is a10 100 seater with have all CAF requirements embedded in it being constructed at the epicenter of the country here in Kwekwe, where it is envisaged to benefit all  Premier Soccer League and national teams,” he said.

Passing a massive vote of confidence in Chahwanda, who is a popular businessman in Kwekwe, Magaya also said he was planning similar projects in the Southern and Eastern regions.

“My partner is strong enough and well much encouraged, we will complete this most probably early January coinciding with the ZIFA elections,” he said.

Football administrators who toured the construction site along Gokwe Road in Kwekwe applauded the initiative

Beyond borders, Magaya has also done other signature Heart stadiums in Malawi and Mozambique.

Meanwhile, the country has a crisis with no international approved stadium to host international matches.
