GWERU: A Manager at a local drinking spot in Gweru is battling for her life at Gweru General Hospital after being stabbed by her boyfriend over infidelity matters.
Vimbai Tagwireyi suffered some deep cuts on the face after allegedly being stabbed by her boyfriend who is Gweru’s assistant District Development Coordinator Tarisai Mudadigwa.
Mudadigwa is reportedly on the run after Tagwireyi opened a case of grievous bodily harm at Mkoba police station.
Close associates say Tagwireyi who is manager at the Cask bar has been living in a domestic violence related relationship with Mudadigwa who is known to be jealous and violent.
“It’s really painful to see a beautiful soul like Sisi Vimbai being tormented like that. We have been warning her as she has been assaulted several times by Mudadigwa. But like they all say love is indeed blind. She is lucky to be alive after being stabbed.
“What really worries us as colleagues is that Mudadigwa has his own wife but is so jealous to the extent that he doesn’t want to see Sisi Vimbai talking to any man even clients. It’s indeed a sad situation and we hope one day she will realize before it’s too late”, said a colleague who refused to be named.
Efforts to get comment from Mudadigwa were fruitless after he promised to call back on excuse that he was in a meeting which he never did.
The assistant DA is not new to controversy after he was implicated in making desperate citizens pay for traveling letters during the peak of the national lockdown.
The case only came to light after some farmers were made to pay USD30 each for the letters resulting in the DCC office withdrawing the issuance of the letters.
