GOKWE: In an unusual incident, a 14-year-old boy, Simon Dhliwayo of Makaya Village under Chief Samambwa, Zhombe was recently nabbed for carjacking.

A police communique in possession of CommuTalk states that the boy committed the crime in the company of two other adults, Trust Nyoni and one only identified as Mbolatho, who are still on the run.

The complainant, Mercy Makaita (35) was travelling from Gokwe to Kwekwe.

“Dhliwayo and Nyoni stopped Makaita pretending to be in need of transport. After she had stopped the suspects suddenly threw branches in front of the vehicle. Dhliwayo produced a knife threatening to stab the complainant. Makaita was forced to sit at the back as Nyoni drove towards Zvibhongashure Compound where they picked the third suspect only known as Mbolatho.

“As the suspects drove back towards Kwekwe, the car ran out of fuel prompting Nyoni and Mbolatho to go fetch for fuel. On returning with fuel in the container, as the suspects disembarked, Makaita shouted for help leading to Dhliwayo’s apprehension by members of the public while the other two fled the scene,” reads the communique.

Police has however urged motorists not to carry strangers in their vehicles saying they risk being robbed.
